No FE for Hartley as Lotterer selected as second Porsche driver

Porsche has announced that André Lotterer has been signed as the second driver for the Porsche Formula E team that will contest the 2019/20 BB FIA Formula E Championship season. Neel Jani and Lotterer will be the regular drivers for the Porsche works team’s maiden season in Formula E.

Porsche works driver Brendon Hartley was mooted to be in line for the drive after he was axed from the Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula One team at the end of 2018. Since then Hartley has been signed as a simulator driver for the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team and more recently to drive for the GAZOO Racing Toyota LMP1 team in the 2019/20 World Endurance Championship.

Lotterer has also been active in the electric race series Formula E since the 2017/2018 season. Driving for Techeetah, he claimed two podiums and finished eighth overall. This season he claimed another two podiums for the DS Techeetah Formula E Team, again finishing eighth overall.
