Ford’s Cam Waters has led the field as Supercars returned to track, while championship contender Chaz Mostert found the wall in an intense final practice at the bp Adelaide Grand Final.
Waters led yesterday’s practice session and is a former winner on the iconic streets of Adelaide, and a hot favourite to contend for Boost Mobile Pole this afternoon.
Mostert, who won three of the four Supercars Finals races thus far, tagged the wall at the infamous Turn 8 during the session, but was fortunately able to avoid major damage in the incident.
The 33-year-old was able to return to the track at the end of the session after repairs, noting his Ford Mustang will need further tweaks before Boost Mobile Qualifying early Friday afternoon.

Fellow Grand Final contenders Kai Allen, Broc Feeney, and Will Brown were second, third, and 10th in Practice 2, suggesting that all four will be competitive when Boost Mobile Qualifying begins at 12:40 p.m. ACDT.
The two-part qualifying session will set the grid for today’s 32-lap, 100-kilometre race at the Adelaide street circuit.
Mega Rewards has put up a $50,000 prize to win today’s race, giving drivers added incentive to fight for the win in the concrete jungle.
Adding a further twist, rain is forecast to arrive in the afternoon. Drivers have yet to turn a lap in the wet this weekend.
