From Racing To Rubgy!

One of this season’s SsangYong Racing Series front-runners and Pukekohe Round winner Kieron Rollinson, will not be contesting the final two Rounds of the Championship at Taupo and Pukekohe. However, he does have a very good reason!

Kieron is a very talented Rugby player, having played at first-five for the Counties-Manukau 2nd 15 Senior Rugby Team during the past season, and has being given the opportunity to play Professional Rugby in The United States this coming season. He has only just recently flown to the USA at very short notice, where he will be playing for the Belmont Shore Rugby Club, based in Long Beach, California.

Belmont Shore has held the Super League Rugby Championship a record four times, and has made it to the Championship Final a record nine times – five more visits than any other team in the US.

The SsangYong Racing Series and SsangYong NZ wish Kieron all the best with this amazing opportunity!

In the meantime, the BGW Wheels SsangYong Actyon Ute will be taken over by Kieron’s Dad Paul, a former Kart and Speedway Champion. Paul will be the fourth Rollinson in the SsangYong Racing Series over the past two seasons, following in the footsteps of son’s Gene, Kieron, and Royce. The only member of the family who hasn’t raced in the Series is Paul’s wife Sandy! Maybe we could find one for her for Pukekohe… Now theres a thought!
