It was Ashton Grant’s turn to claim the $500 ‘Dash for Cash’ prize at the third round of this year’s Hampton Downs Top Half Series’ round at Whangarei’s WRB Karting Supplies Raceway on Sunday.

This time the Giltrap Group/Robert Cunningham Construction/Duffett Doors-backed Dash-For-Cash race was contested by the Urban Performance 125cc Rotax Light class. Grant made it to the front after just four laps from the reverse grid start and crossed the line just over four seconds in front of Sam Hunter with local ace – and overall class winner for the round – Braedan Snowden third.

With 90 entries the day was one of the biggest hosted by the KartSport Whangarei club. Racing was close in all classes with only one driver – Liam Sceats in Supreme Kart Supplies Vortex ROK DVS – claiming a five heat clean sweep.

Other class winners at the meeting were Maxim Kirwan (International Kart Supplies Cadet ROK), Mitchell Sparrow (Supreme Kart Supplies Vortex Mini ROK), Ryan Crombie (Spartan Auto Dismantlers Junior Rotax), Bond Roby (Right Karts Rotax DD2), Caleb Hartley (TCB Motorsport Rotax Max Heavy) and Stephen Muggeridge (WRB Karting Supplies ClubSport 120).

There is now a break of just over two months until the final round of this year’s Hampton Downs Top Half Series at Tokoroa on Sunday November 11.
