Titles decided in AMCC Club Series

The predicted wet weather never eventuated, and the final Round of the Auckland Motorcycle Club Summer Series was held in warm and dry conditions last Sunday at Hampton Downs.

As expected, the double points meeting threw up a number of surprises; and the Club Series titles were decided by small margins in many instances.
None more so than in Superbike – where Taupo’s Connor London (Kawasaki ZX-10R) got home by a single point over Daniel Mettam (Suzuki GSX-R1000). Mettam took a narrow victory in Race One, but London prevailed in the final two races, by margins of 0.1 seconds in both !
Adrian Clare (Yamaha R1) took out the Superstock 1000 title.

Nathanael Diprose (Suzuki GSX-R600) was a comfortable overall winner in Supersport 600, however David Hall was very fast on the day – both preparing for the upcoming summer events.

Scott Findlay (Kawasaki ZXR400) took the spoils in Superlite, after a season long arm-wrestle with Nick Olson (Suzuki Gladius 650); while sharing the Intermediate field was ProTwin 650, who were a highlight of the Series with healthy fields and plenty of battles. Matt Dunlop (Suzuki SV650) took a second consecutive Club title with seven wins from eight starts. However Alex Butson (Suzuki SV650) took a victory over Matt at Round Two.
Aaron Lambourne (Honda RS125) secured the 125ccGP Club title.

Nathanael Diprose also dominated Lightweight – enjoying a season on the Gavin Veltmeyer KTM RC390, and taking a second consecutive title for that bike. Diprose was beaten only once, at Round Three, by Nick Burke (Yamaha R3).

In 250 ProLite Sean White (Kawasaki 250) swept Round Three, to take the Series title from Darrick Kattenberg (Kawasaki 250). It was seven wins to one overall, however no points in Race One of the season had seen White playing catch-up all Series.

There was drama in Sidecar also. A DNS for the Lawrance Brothers (LCR 1000) in the final race of the Series allowed Hall & Prentis (BLR 600) to snatch the Club Series title at the final hurdle.

Post Classic and Clubman titles were also decided; while the Carl Cox Motorsport Hyosung Cup continue their Series with two events in 2019, and will finish up at the Motofest meeting in early March.
