Armstrong set for Italian F4 final round at Monza

Marcus Armstrong will head into this weekend’s final round of the Italian Formula 4 Championship powered by Abarth with a 53 point advantage over his nearest placed rival Job van Uitert. This is in contrast to his 1.5-point lead heading into the final German ADAC F4 Championship in September where he eventually finished runner up to his Prema team mate Jüri Vips.

Such was his disappointment that Armstrong made sure he had a substantive lead in the Italian series that takes place over the weekend at the famous Monza circuit. The European based teenager finished on the podium in all three races in the penultimate round at Mugello a fortnight ago, including a race win.

Previous title holders in the four year history of the championship include include current Williams F1 driver Lance Stroll (2014), Ralf Aron (2015) and Marcos Siebert (2016).

On Wednesday Monza hosted the third and final official test of the 2017 Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth season. The two championship rivals proved to be the fastest in both morning and afternoon sessions. Armstrong (Prema Power Team), was fastest in the morning and the Dutch driver Job Van Uitert (Jenzer Motorsport) the fastest in the afternoon session and indeed the fastest overall with a time of 1’53”151.
