Cassidy underway in Super Formula this weekend

Kiwi driver Nick Cassidy will take to the grid at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan as the 2017 Super Formula Series gets underway this weekend. Cassidy will drive for the Kondo Racing team alongside team-mate Kenta Yamashita with qualifying on Saturday and racing on Sunday.

The competitive field includes former Toyota Racing Series driver Jan Mardenborough, GP2 Series drivers Pierre Gasly, Felix Rosenqvist and previous winner of the series in 2011 Andre Lotterer.

Both Cassidy and Yamashita have been team-mates before having competed with the Petronas Tema TOM’S in the Japanese Formula Three Championship which Cassidy won in 2015.

Cassidy is this season competing in both Super Formula and the Super GT Series. His Lexus factory team won the opening round of the Super GT Series at Okayama Circuit earlier in April.
