Pole for Armstrong in Mugello

Marcus Armstrong has put in a strong qualifying performance at the penultimate round of the 2017 Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth. The Kiwi driver qualified second fastest in the first session to Venezuelan Sebastian Fernandez (Bhaitech) and then went on to qualify quickest in the second session.

Fernandez (1:47.396) was just 269 thousandths of a second ahead of Armstrong, a greater average margin than other rounds. Third quickest was the Italian Leonardo Lorandi (Bhaitech), followed by Armstrong’s main rival for the championship Van Uitert.

Van Uitert was second quickest to Armstrong in the second qualifying session.

Race 1 will be held on Saturday at 13:25 (local time), meanwhile on Sunday at 9:00 and 15:55 will see Races 2 and 3 respectively. The grid for Race 3 will be determined by the second best times attained by drivers in either of the qualifying sessions.
