Another solid performance from Lawson

A rain affected Formula One race is often a lottery and this morning’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix was exactly that.  It is not necessarily about who has the fastest car or who is the bravest, rather it can be about luck mixed with the right strategic decisions (intermediate or wet tyres), weather predictions and talent in the rain.

A top 10 finish in the points for Lawson is another big tick towards confirming his seat for 2025.  The Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team (RB) driver took ninth after holding off Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez late in the race.  Again, Lawson and Perez clashed on the track with the former defending his position from the Oracle Red Bull Racing driver who eventually finished outside the points, in 11th.

Qualifying saw a real mix of results with both Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team drivers getting through to Q3 in a rain affected session while rivals in the constructor’s championship, Haas F1 being eliminated in Q1.  RB’s Yuki Tsunoda went on to qualify third with Lawson fifth on the grid.

It was a race of red and yellow flags, crashes and clashes while several top drivers had a nightmare and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen came from 17th through to win the Grand Prix.

With both Haas drivers finishing outside the points, Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team have now closed up to just two-points behind them.  However, the surprise of the day was from the BWT Alpine F1 Team which has leaped ahead of both RB and Haas with drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly finishing second and third. Just five points separate these three teams in the fight for sixth.

Next is the Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix set to go 23-24 November 2024.
