Liam Lawson has finally been confirmed to drive for Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team for the remainder of 2024 season, racing alongside Yuki Tsunoda. He replaces Australian driver Danie Ricciardo who raced his final F1 Grand Prix in Singapore last weekend.
Lawson now steps up from his reserve driver role for the US Grand Prix in Austin in October followed by the Mexican, Brazilian, Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, six in total.
Lawson made his F1 debut in 2023 at the Dutch Grand Prix again replacing Ricciardo who had fractured his wrist in FP2 practice. He competed in four more Grand Prix impressing the F1 paddock and scoring his first points at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix.
The six 2024 Grand Prix will give both RB and Red Bull Racing time to evaluate Lawson alongside Tsunoda as both teams appear to be wrestling with their 2024 driver line-up.
