Kiwi F1 driver Liam Lawson will start from grid 11 for the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday while Visa Cash App Racing Bull’s teammate Arvid Lindblad will be at the very back after a power unit change. The Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia hosts the F1 race due to its cancellation earlier this season as a result of hostilities in the Middle East.
“A tricky qualifying overall, frustrating as we had a quick car this weekend and had the potential to be well in Q3 so definitely stuff to look over,” commented Lawson. “Obviously the racing will be very important tomorrow (Sunday) so that’s what the focus is on now.”

“For myself I tried to help out Liam and the team today,” said Lindblad. “On my side it is more of a focus on tomorrow so lots of running on high fuel. I think that we are in a good place as there will be lots of opportunities there with high deg (degradation) and pitstops so let’s see. Looking forward to it.”
For the VCARB drivers it is all about gaining maximum points for the Teams’ Standings and increasing the 15-point gap back to rivals Alpine. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly starts two places ahead of Lawson in ninth while Franco Colapinto starts alongside Lindblad at the rear, also having had a power unit change.
The Bahrain Grand Prix gets underway at 8pm Sunday 4 October 2026 NZ time.
