Visa Cash App Racing Bull’s driver Liam Lawson has gained another solid result for his 2026 Formula One season finishing ninth in the US Grand Prix held at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. Having qualified ninth, the Kiwi crossed the line to move another point ahead of rival Alpine’s Pierre Gasly who came in tenth.
“It was pretty lonely to be honest,” commented Lawson. “It’s obviously a good thing for us when all the top teams finish and we are P9, the best we are going to get. So, we are very happy.
“It’s good that we are looking to get ahead cand not coming from behind. They (Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull & Ferrari) are too far ahead. In quali we can be close but over a race it is tough when you are trying to look after tyres. For us, this is the best we are going to get right now.
“The main thing that we are doing very well is optimizing our package. Each weekend when we get to quali we seem to be able to extract everything out of it. Having driven two different cars this season I can say that the balance in this car (Racing Bulls) is very strong.
“Towards the end of the race we were getting faster and faster which, when you are in the car is a good feeling, so I am enjoying it.”

Visa Cash App Racing Bulls had both drivers inside the top 10 in qualifying and Liam Lawson drove a strong race while teammate Arvid Lindblad missed the points in 12th.
The result increases the VCARB lead over nearest rival Alpine in the all-important Teams’ Standings to 33-points.
Mercedes driver and Drivers’ Championship leader Kimi Antonelli dominated the race from start to finish with Ferrari’s Charle Leclrc second ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen
