The challenge of being Liam Lawson

It would be compelling listening to hear Liam Lawson’s thoughts on Yuki Tsunoda’s performance in the Oracle Red Bull Racing’s Formula One car over the 2025 season.  Would it have been any different for Lawson, given time?  Would he have tamed the RB21?

It may not be a surprise to hear him explain how he would have eventually made it consistently into Q3 (qualifying), points scoring opportunities and even onto a Grand Prix podium.  Why?  Because he’s got the ability to think and work through any problem that hampers the realisation of his dreams.  That is why the boy from Pukekohe is now a Formula One driver.

While we are relieved that he is well established with the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula One Team, showing consistency in both qualifying and scoring Grand Prix points, thus solidifying his long term F1 future, does it niggle away at him that the opportunity in a top team to really show his skills was withdrawn?

‘He was too inexperienced,’ you say! That may be correct if you want to follow the path of those that have gone before. Yet, to be truly great, it is the tough experiences and the hard graft that enable the moving forward and upwards. Otherwise, you are just part of the grid.

Lawson is not one to rest now he is immersed in the uncomplicated world of driving a VCARB 02. Moving to the next level is already well into the planning stage.
