Cassidy is in the driving seat

Winning the weekend’s penultimate round of the Super GT Series with co-driver Ryo Hirakawa has put Cassidy back where he was at the end of August.  He now leads both the Super GT and Super Formula Series’ with just one round to go in each category.

The win at the Autopolis Circuit in Japan was always on the cards, or at least a podium.  It’s a series that ‘penalizes’ success by the way of ballast added to the car (capped at 50kg) as well as restricting fuel flow.  But for the penultimate round the calculation is reduced.

Cassidy knows what it takes to win races and he knows how to win championships.  There’s a steely determination within his character coupled with a mind that can strategize every possibility for a race that maximizes the results for him.

Heading to the final round of Super GT (10-11 November Motegi) and Super Formula Series’ (27-28 October Suzuka) Cassidy will have calculated exactly what is required to beat his rivals to the title.

This coming weekend Cassidy heads to the final Super Formula round currently leading with 29 championship points. He is four points ahead of second placed Hiroaki Ishiura and third placed Naoki Yamamoto who has 24.  Pole position will bring with it one point, a victory 10 points, second place eight and third place six points. The winner will also be awarded an additional three points and in the event of a tie, the driver who has won the most points in the most other races will be crowned champion.

Cassidy now finds himself in the unique situation of leading both the Super GT and Super Formula Series in Japan.  He is in the driver’s seat and he will know what to do to get the job done.
