Bamber/Estre second at the Nordschleife

Earl Bamber and co-driver Kevin Estre have finished a dramatic second in the eight round of the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nordschleife, Germany, over the weekend. Driving a Porsche 911 GT3 R of Manthey Racing, they crossed the line first with the narrow margin of 0.371 seconds against Uwe Alzen and Lance David Arnold in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Haribo Racing Team.

The joy of victory was short-lived, as Bamber /Estre were slapped with a 35-second time penalty for overtaking under yellow flags after the race. This dropped them down to second place ahead of Peter Dumbreck and Martin Ragginger Porsche 911 GT3 R of Falken Motorsports.

While not able to celebrate a vicotry, Kevin Estre was quite relieved. “I crashed at the 24-hour race for the first time on the Nordschleife,” said the Frenchman. “So it feels very good to have finished this race successfully.”
