Cassidy and Lester set for more race podiums in Super GT

Thursday sees the second round of the 2017 Autobacs Super GT Series take place at the Fuji Speedway in Japan. The Fuji 500 takes place on 4 May as part of the national holiday Golden Week celebrations in Japan.

After winning the opening round in at Okayama, the #37 KeePer TOM’S LC500 of Nick Cassidy and Ryo Hirakawa will look to carry on their winning form after Lexus dominated the GT500 class.

The 500km race is longer than the usual 300km and is the first race this season on a high-speed circuit. It is also the first race with ‘Success Ballast’ where competitors take on extra ballast according to their placing at the previous round.

Thirty cars will compete in the GT300 Class including Kiwi driver Jono Lester who along with his co-driver Kyosuke Mineo in the #9 Gulf NAC Porsche 911 finished third in the opening round at Okayama.

Huge crowds are expected for the popular race which all teams, manufacturers and drivers are very keen to win.
