Whether you are a Chevrolet fan or not, kudos must go to the Corvette Racing team who will make their 20th consecutive appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend in France.
The team have two Corvette C7.R cars entered with drivers Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia, Mike Rockenfeller (#63 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R), and Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner, Marcel Fassler (#64 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R).
These six drivers have 19 Le Mans victories between them.
The team proved proved quick at the recent test day, 2 June, where the #63 car was the fastest GTE Pro Class car with the #64 third quickest.
The team has competed with three different generations of car since its first appearance in 2000 when it debuted with the Corvette C5-R (2000-04) followed by the Corvette C6.R (2005-13) and the Corvette C7.R (2014-2019).
There have been eight class victories for the team – 2002, 2004-06, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2015.
Here’s some pics taken by Terry Marshall who attended both the 2013 and 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. Word has it that he stayed awake for the complete race!
