The German DTM Series gets underway this weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza (Monza) in Italy.  Two Kiwi drivers are competing this season in the seven round championship, both with the AF Corse Team.

Liam Lawson and Nick Cassidy will join ex Red Bull F1 driver Alex Albon in the AF Corse team.  Cassidy and Albon will alternate in the Alpha Tauri Ferrari while Lawson will drive a Red Bull Ferrari 488 GT3.

“They are three fantastic drivers. They are real professionals and great for the team spirit. It is a real pleasure to have them in the team,” commented Team Principal Amato Ferrari.

While Lawson will line up on the grid this weekend, Cassidy will be competing in the FIA Formula E with Albon taking the Alpha Tauri seat.

The DTM Series cars are based on FIA GT3 regulations.  Each round comprises two 55-minute races, both with rolling starts and no driver change.  Driver aids such as ABS and traction control are not permitted.

A mandatory tyre change is required with a maximum of six mechanics and two tyre guns.

‘Balance of Preformance (BoP) will see the success ballast of 25,18 and 15 kgs added to the three best-placed drivers which will be applicable in the subsequent race.
