Kiwi driver Brendon Leitch heads to Portugal this week for the final round of the 2023 Michelin Le Mans Cup (LMC). With usual co-driver Gerhard Watzinger side-lined with an injury, Leitch will be joined by Gregg Gorski competing in the #70 Crowdstrike Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO for the round at the Algarve International Circuit, Portimão.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” commented Leitch. “It is a very cool and fun track. It’s definitely a driver’s circuit with lots of elevation and opportunities for passing.
“We competed there last season at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Final. “
Both LMP3 and GT3 titles will be decided in Portimão with 25 teams, 40 cars and 80 drivers all taking part in a two-hour race on Sunday.
“We will be trying for a podium, that will be the goal,” said Leitch. “Anything can happen in a two-hour race so first we need to make sure we finish. At the moment it is looking like rain and a wet race!”
The Portimao Round of the 2023 Michelin Le Mans Cup takes place over four days, 19-22 October 2023. Free Practice 1 takes place on Thursday with a Bronze Driver Collective Test on Friday, Free Practice 2 and qualifying on Saturday and the season finale on Sunday starting at 09h00 local time.
