Brendon Leitch now sits top of the overall points table in the 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe Series after two podiums at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps over the weekend. The German-based Kiwi driver finished second in both 50-minute races in his Dayle ITM backed #86 Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, adding to his double-podium in the opening round in France at the beginning of June.
The key to Leitch’s performance was in qualifying. Starting eighth on the 48-car grid, the Kiwi stayed in contention for most of the opening race, taking his compulsory pit-stop early while others stayed out, electing to stop later.
His qualifying second fastest for Race 2 proved a massive advantage as the race was started under Safety Car conditions due to excessive rain plaguing the race which was eventually stopped under a red flag with no competitive laps taken.
This has moved Leitch up the rankings from third to first overall. The next round is at the Nurburgring, Germany) 28-30 July.
