Positives for Bamber in Carrera Cup Asia Championship

Will Bamber, representing Team Porsche New Zealand in the Carrera Cup Asia Championship, arrived at the mid-season break in fourth position with Team Porsche New Zealand in third position in the Championship Dealer Trophy. The 2019 Carrera Cup Asia Championship, which started at the Shanghai Formula 1 Grand Prix, has visited four circuits across three countries hosting eight races in the season to date.

The 2019 season celebrated the series 200th race since its inception in 2003 at the Sepang Circuit during round four this year, and the 201st race was the series’ first ever night event. The Sepang Circuit which held the last race before the mid-season break is also the home track for Earl Bamber Motorsport.

This season has been characterised by tough competition between the top four competitors swapping positions between races. Despite the controversial judicial ruling following the round in Suzuka, Will Bamber has consistently qualified and finished in the top three throughout the first half of the season.

With three rounds remaining in Thailand, Singapore and China, the New Zealand driver remains focussed on the remaining 6 races to close the gap to the top of the table. The next round is at the Bangsaen Street Circuit this weekend.
