‘Super quiet’ – that’s a fail in motorsport!

From across the Tasman Aussie Racing Cars have confirmed that its electric two-seater ride car dubbed the Aus E Car has successfully completed its first track test after 12 months of development.

Having completed 30 laps in the car at Norwell Motorplex, ARC Engineer James Ward is reported to have said, “Aus E Car was unbelievable to drive, its crazy fast and super quiet.”

Well, in my book that’s a fail in motorsport!

I want noise, motorsport fans want noise. That’s one of the reasons we love motorsport (and cars).  Sound is so important.  It doesn’t have to be ear piercing loud (although a V12 Formula One engine is quite something else!), but the sound of a great looking and fast car is part of the package we want.

Fortunately we won’t see this car racing for sometime yet.  Apparently the car ‘showcases Aussie Racing Cars technical ability and engineering know how and serves to demonstrate the possibilities of the next 20 years.’

So why bother”
