Will Bamber won Saturday’s Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Round 9 race at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The Earl Bamber Motorsport driver was able to build a large gap on the field from pole position to take his first win of the season.
“It was a hot race and after some of the luck we’ve had this year I didn’t want to count my chickens too quick,” commented Bamber. “I was a bit nervous all the way to the line.”
Tanart Sathienthirakul finished second with Martin Ragginger third. Fellow Kiwi Chris van der Drift came in fifth.
In Sunday’s Round 10 race it was Ragginger who capitalised his pole position start and won. It was a lights to flag victory for the Team Porsche Holding driver keeping him in contention for the title. Will Bamber finished in second with Chris van der Drift third.
Van der Drift continues to lead the championship heading to the final two races of the season at Shanghai International Circuit in China, 16-18 November 2018.
