Allan Sargeant enters Ginetta in Rodin Cars Super GT Series

Allan Sargeant will enter a Ginetta G55 GT4 in the upcoming Rodin Cars Super GT Series, which begins in January.

Relatively new to competitive motorsport, Sargeant has a handful of North Island Endurance Series races under his belt aboard a Seat Leon Supercopa.

“The Seat was a great car to get started in, but now I’ve had the opportunity to step into the Ginetta, and into the Super GT Series,” says Sargeant.

Sargeant’s Ginetta will be run out of the successful Race Labs outfit, the organisation also running a handful of cars for other competitors including an Aston Martin GT4.

Before the season gets underway, Sargeant says some testing is going to be critical.

“The start of the season isn’t too far away, and with the Lockdowns we haven’t been able to get out to Hampton Downs for some testing, so the plan is to get down there in mid December and get some laps done before January.”

“I’ve never driven at Highlands or Ruapuna, so like a few of the other competitors, it will be two new tracks for me to learn on the go.”

Raced in various series around the world, and manufactured in the UK, Ginetta G55 GT4 produces 355hp from a 3.7 litre V6 engine.

“The Ginetta isn’t hugely powerful, but its light at only around 1100kg and it seems to look after its tyres reasonably well. Add into that the balance of performance and I think we could be there or there abouts during the races.”

“Mainly for me it’s about going out there and having some fun with a few mates, getting through all of the races and finishing is the aim, getting a good placing will be a bonus.”

The Rodin Cars Super GT Series will consist of four rounds over three months commencing January 15, 2022, at Highlands in Cromwell.

This will be followed by the second round at the Mike Pero Motorsport Park, Rupauna in Christchurch on January 22-23, before heading to Hampton Downs on February 12-13. The final round will be in Taupo on March 26-27, 2022.
