Young Ryan Woods has proved too quick so far this season, winning both rounds of the Class C & D 2021 One-Hour Carter’s Tyre Service South Island Endurance Series and is again the one to beat heading to Teretonga Park in Invercargill this Sunday. Joining the penultimate round of the Series, and a new threat for Woods (Porsche 991.1) will be fine-looking MARC Mustang of Sam Collins. Collins has been competing in the Three-Hour competition but elected to make a change for this round.

Such is the high level of entry for the One-Hour racing, organisers have split the field into two races, one for Class A (0-2000cc) and B (2001-3500cc) and a separate race for Class C (>3501cc) and D (GT type).
The rivalry in Class C & D is very proving to be high with the likes of Chris Henderson (Toyota 86 V8), Jordan Michels (Ford Focus MARC V8), Jarrod Owens (Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S), Marco Schelp (Porsche GT3 Cup S), last season’s One-Hour champion Martin Dippie (Porsche 991.1 Cup), Allan Dippie (Porsche GT3 Cup S) and Garry Derrick/Ben Derrick (Porsche 991.2), all looking for a podium finish behind Woods.
Bruce Davidson (Chev Corvette C6R) leads Class C but will come under pressure from Henderson who missed the second round in Timaru last weekend due to a hand injury.

Class A and B is also proving to be competitive with Mike Hall (VW Golf GTi TCR) leading both Class B and the overall points table. He is one point ahead of Scott O’Donnell (Hyundai i30N TCR) who is tied with Dennis Chapman (Audi TCR LMS) for second. Winner of the opening round, Simon Andre (Toyota 86) retired early in the second round while leading, and should again be at the front of the field.

Rhys Gould (Hyundai i30N TCR) joined the Series last weekend and immediately made an impression putting the car on pole before a drive shaft broke. Repairs were made just in time for the car to start from the pits, with Gould making his way through the field to take the chequered flag. Daniel Cropp (Honda Civic 2.4) has shown he can mix it with the TCR cars and could well be on the podium this Sunday.
The Class A leader board is tight at the top with Tim Dossett (Honda Civic EF) leading from William Tayler (Honda Type R) and Brad Rule (Honda Civic). Neither of these three have been first home in the first two rounds but their consistency has been rewarded. Clark Scott (Honda Integra Type R) won the first round and sits fourth while Andrew Gibson/Pat Booth (Honda Civic) won the second and sit seventh on the points table.

Qualifying gets underway on Sunday 24 October at 9:00am with racing starting at 10:20am. Discounted pre-sale tickets for the event are on sale at Auto Centre, Tweed Street, Invercargill and E Hayes & Sons, Dee Street, Invercargill priced at $15 each
Under current conditions crowds can attend the event but groups not attending together should maintain a distance of 1 metre between each other. Face masks are required upon entering the circuit and when accessing toilet facilities.
