Multiple endurance series Champion, Sam Filmore will campaign a Porsche 992 Cup Car in the upcoming season of the Summerset GT New Zealand Championship.
Filmore has an impressive racing CV, originally starting out in offshore powerboats, winning the NZ title in 2010 before shifting to circuit racing in 2012.
Since then, he has completed six Bathurst 12 hour races, claiming class podiums, Porsche Sprint Challenge, Australian GT, Lamborghini Super Trofeo and a start in the Dubai 24-hour.
Locally, he has claimed two North Island Endurance Series titles in 2016/2023, three South Island Endurance Series titles in 2016, 2022, 2023 and two New Zealand Endurance titles in 2022 and 2023.
Recently, he finished third in the Highlands 6-hour aboard an Audi R8 GT3 with team mate Johnny Reid, the entry run by the International Motorsport team, who will field his Porsche this season also.
“I’m really looking forward to the series, there are some great drivers and a lot of new cars, it should be a lot of fun,” said Filmore.
“I haven’t had any time in the 992 Cup Car yet, so Taupo will be my first time in the car and I can’t wait.”
The 2023/24 Summerset GT New Zealand Championship will consist of a five-round series over five months commencing November 17-19 at Taupo Motorsport Park in Taupo.
