Hedda Hosås replaces Gilmour for Copper X Prix

The NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team have announced that Hedda Hosås will replace Emma Gilmour for the 2023 Copper X Prix.

Following an incident at the 2023 Island X Prix II, this September, Gilmour has been recovering at home in Dunedin, and is still in the recovery process. Although she is making good progress with her recovery, she is unfortunately not fit in time to drive for the Copper X Prix next week.

“Following my incident in Sardinia in September, I’ve had to take the difficult decision to not compete in the final round of the 2023 Extreme E season in Chile next week,” commented Gilmour. “I have been making good progress with my recovery, but do not feel well enough to compete yet. I’m confident that Hedda will do a good job to help bring the team some well-deserved success.”

Hedda Hosås will be competing for the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team at the upcoming Copper X Prix. Hedda, 22, from Norway, has proven herself to be a strong up-and-coming talent in off-road racing. She entered Extreme E in 2021 as the reserve driver for Veloce Racing, before becoming a championship driver for the 2022 Desert X Prix. She has since competed in the championship for the remainder of the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

“I’m looking forward to competing for the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team in Chile next week,” said Hedda Hosås. “I’m sending all my best wishes to Emma for a speedy recovery and hope I can do her and the whole team proud.”

The NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team will be in action next week for the final two rounds of the 2023 season, the Copper X Prix, on 2 – 3 December.
