After Saturday morning’s three stages in Argentina, Hayden Paddon and John Kennard continue to hold seventh position on the leader-board. With a 3min 42sec deficient to sixth-placed Jari-Matti Latvala, the Kiwis aren’t in a position to challenge for a higher position at this point and are simply working on their own performance, aiming to get to the finish.
“I think with our road position [fourth on the road), I was quite happy with our speed this morning.,” commented Paddon. “I thought we’d lose a lot more, so in that respect it’s quite good and I think we can challenge for a couple more stage wins this afternoon. Frustrating because obviously without the problem yesterday on the first stage, I think we’d be in second at the moment and you never know what could happen from there. Conditions today are much nicer, very similar to last year, smooth, flowing, a couple of nasty rocks here and there, but generally quite enjoyable to drive today.”
They are now working through the repeated runs of the three stages, which include lots of water splashes, to complete Saturday’s itinerary.
