Paddon second in Rally Estonia

Hayden Paddon has finished second to Toyota’s Ott Tanak at Rally Estonia over the weekend. Third home was Craig Breen’s Citroen as drivers’ and teams used the event as a World Rally Championship warm-up event for Rally Finland.

“It’s been a great weekend in Estonia,” commented Paddon. “The atmosphere of this rally is really incredible and it’s an important test session for us.”

With similar fast and flowing stages to Rally Finland it was the first time that three manufacturers from the World Rally Championship have joined a non-championship event since the faster cars with bigger aero were introduced for the 2017 season.

The Yaris of Tanak was dominant beating Paddon and co-driver Seb Marshall by 59.3s. While Breen had held second, a high-speed ‘off’ into a field aboard his C3 WRC, coupled with a problem in service meant he was late to a stage and incurred over two minutes in penalties.

The next round of the WRC gets underway in a week’s time 26-29 July 2018,
