Brendon Leitch has taken his maiden win in the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda at Mid-Ohio today. In a rain affected race, the Southland driver started from eighth on the grid but quickly dropped back to 19th after starting on slicks (tyres).
“It was a really good result for the team,” commented Leitch. “We made a brave move to go out on slicks and as the race progressed pushed through the field setting fastest lap of the race and came away with the win. Unfortunately on the second last corner the car leading the race came off and I was able to capitalise on that!”
“We had a really good race (race2) from pole. Made a mistake in the first turn and spun and dropped back to 11th. Was able to make my way through to fourth before a safety car. Eventually made it through to third after some more safety cars, setting the third fastest time so tomorrow we will start from third. It’s great to have another podium for the boys.”
The second race of the round was won by Skylar Robinson with Kyle Kirkwood second.
Drivers face their third and final race for the round tomorrow.
