Cassidy scores point in Super Formula round

Nick Cassidy has finished eighth at a rain affected Super Formula round at the Autopolis. Having qualified 11th in difficult conditions, Cassidy made the most of the wet conditions that saw a spate of crashes and safety car periods.

Naoki Yamamoto finished second as Yuhi Sekiguchi won the second round. Felix Rosenqvist’s finished third.

Qualifying on Saturday was postponed due to heavy wet conditions. It took place on Sunday morning, still in the wet but lighter conditions.

The red flag came out three times during the 40 min. session, leaving little time for the 20 cars to get in a clear lap. Yuji Kunimoto captured pole, rookie Sho Tsuboi captured P2, while Nirei Fukuzumi took P3.

The series heads to Sportsland SUGO for the third round 22-23 June.
