Kiwi drivers’ Taylor Cockerton and Ryan Yardley will join the grid for round one of the CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship. They will both join Toyota Racing Series squad, MTEC Motorsport, at the season opener at the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019.
CAMS General Manager of Motor Sport Michael Smith welcomed the arrival of MTEC Motorsport to the championship.
“With the recent success of Liam Lawson overseas, we’re also excited to welcome a new batch of New Zealanders to take on the quickest Australian youngsters in Formula 4,” Smith said.
“The Australian Grand Prix is the prime location for drivers from Australia and New Zealand to impress in front of a local and global audience.”
Yardley was most recently the 2016 & 2017 Toyota 86 Champion, and voted as the most improved driver in New Zealand’s Toyota Racing Series earlier this year.
Cockerton was the 2017 Formula Masters Asian Series champion, New Zealand’s 2014 & 2015 Formula Ford Champion, and has competed in the Toyota Racing Series with MTEC since 2016.
The Australian Grand Prix weekend will commence from Thursday 14 March, with three races across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
