The 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship this weekend heads to the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, better known as Imola, near Bologna in Italy. For Liam Lawson, it is his first time at the circuit.
“I’ve never been to Imola before but I am super excited to go there,” commented Lawson. “It’s a very good track, a lot of history and a layout that has developed in the last ten years to something that is very very cool.”
The F2 series heads to Italy after three days of testing in Barcelona, Spain.
“The test was good,” said Lawson. “It will be quite a bit different when we go back there as the test was quite cool and it should be a lot warmer when we race in Barcelona. So if the temperature is as high as expected there will still be a bit of estimating to do as far a the settings go but it was still a very useful test.”
“I would say it was all pretty good, the short run pace was good, so was the long run pace. There are always things you can improve on but that is what testing’s for and I was happy with the three days.”
Lawson currently sits second overall with 34 points after 4 of 26 races.
“I’m excited to go there. As for expectations… I think we know that we are in good shape with the car, we are competitive so I am looking to score well both on Saturday and Sunday.”
