McElrea fifth at Lucas Oil Raceway

Hunter McElrea has finished fifth in the Cooper Tires Freedom 90, the eighth round of the 2021 Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires. The race held at the Lucas Oil Raceway, Indianapolis, was won by Christian Rasmussen who is first on the overall leader board, with McELrea at fifth place.

“After a rough qualifying session, I was able to move through the field to grab a solid top 5, coming home fifth and some valuable points,” commented McElrea.   “It’s been a little tougher Month of May than I would have liked, but I have to thank everyone from Pabst Racing for the hard work and all my great sponsors and supporters!

“I’m looking forward coming back to Road America in a couple weeks, as I have a lot of unfinished business.”

The Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires will now take a brief two-week hiatus before reconvening for one of the most eagerly awaited venues of the season, the scenic and challenging Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., for a double-header event on June 18-20.
