Murphy heading to the US on Tuesday

NZ Formula Ford driver Ronan Murphy will head to the USA on Tuesday to compete in the Formula 4 single seater category. The 2019 Elite Motorsport Academy winner was set to compete in the US Formula 4 Championship in April with Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport until the Covid-19 virus halted all travel and motorsport.

“Thanks to the generous support of many people, I will be heading to California on Tuesday to compete in the final round of the West Coast F4 championship at Laguna Seca,” said Murphy. “I will then be staying on to compete in the first three rounds of the US F4 championship, which has been rescheduled and confirmed, to be held over the next couple of months.

“I am more than aware of the current situation in America and will be taking every possible precaution to ensure the health and safety of everyone I will be involved with as well as myself. I feel like this is something I have to do as I may never get another opportunity like this and I am incredibly excited and ready to give it 110% over there!”

The first round of the US F4 champs is the Andy Scriven Memorial at Virginia International Raceway 17-19 July followed by the next round at Barber Motorsports Park 31 July – 2 August.
