A podium for Nick Cassidy at the latest round of the Super Formula Series has seen the Kiwi now take the overall lead on the points table. Cassidy finished third to reigning series champion Hiroaki Ishiura who scored his first win of the season and fifth career win ahead of Ryō Hirakawa at the Twin Ring Motegi.
Celebrating his birthday, Cassidy has a 27 point lead over Yamamoto and Ishiura who are tied for second on 24 points. Hirakawa moves to fourth and Yuhi Sekiguchi and Kazuki Nakajima are tied for fifth on 11 points
Earlier in August, finishing second in the Fuji 500, the longest race of the season propelled the No. 1 KeePer TOM’S LC500 of Ryo Hirakawa/Nick Cassidy into the lead of the Super GT Series. It was the third podium of the season for the pairing giving them a 47 point lead over the round winners, the No. 36 au TOM’S LC500 of Kazuki Nakajima/Yuhi Sekiguchi.
