Team Penske has announced the departures of INDYCAR Team President, Tim Cindric, INDYCAR Managing Director, Ron Ruzewski and INDYCAR General Manager Kyle Moyer from the organization as a result of the penalties handed down to the #2 and #12 cars after qualifying for the 2025 Indianapolis 500.
“Nothing is more important than the integrity of our sport and our race teams,” commented Roger Penske, Chairman of Penske Corp. “We have had organizational failures during the last two years, and we had to make necessary changes. I apologize to our fans, our partners and our organization for letting them down.”
This is the second IndyCar Series rule infringement by Team Penske in the last two seasons. Early in the 2024 season Team Penske was caught up in an alleged cheating scandal (see Team Penske suspend staff).
Then the issue centered around Josef Newgarden’s illegal use of his car’s push-to-pass system in his season-opening victory at St. Petersburg, Florida. Newgarden was stripped of his win and teammate Scott McLaughlin of his third-place finish, with IndyCar docking both and fellow Penske driver Will Power 10-points each and hitting all three with $25,000 fines.
Roger Penske, sat down with Jamie Little to address the recent Indy 500 qualifying rules violations that led to the dismissal of his three Team Penske employees.
