The Davison name is synonymous with Australian motorsport. His father. Jon, was a F5000 sompetitor and Sandown Raceway promoter. His grandfather is the legendary Lex Davison who won the Australian Grand Prix four times. He is also the cousin of Alex and Will Davison who have competed in the Australia Supercars Championship.
James, predominately competes in sportscars but also has had a single seater career and has competed at the Indianapolis 500 six times.
In 2020 he started 27th and became the first retirement of the 104th running of the race. Davison suffered a brake issue on the sixth lap that caused the entire right front wheel assembly to catch fire and spray debris over the track.

You may remember the flaming car coming to a halt just before the pit entrance after the brake master cylinder locked on the car, causing the brakes to be stuck on generating large amounts of heat, ultimately leading to the magnesium wheel catching fire.
Jonathan Green caught up with Davison after the race………….
