Podium for Cassidy and lead in Super Formula Series

Nick Cassidy has finished third in the latest Super Formula Series at the Twin Ring Motegi and now takes the overall lead with two races left.

Cassidy’s Super GT Series co-driver Ryo Hawakira won the fifth race of the season, his first victory in 35 races in the category. Kamui Kobayashi came home in second. Pole-sitter Alex Palou finished fourth, behind Cassidy.

Previous points leader Naoki Yamamoto came away from the round with no points finishing in ninth , dropping to the second place in the championship standings. Cassidy leads with 28 points just one more than Yamamoto. Palou is third with 20 points, one more than Kobayashi.

The penultimate round takes place in Okayama 29 September.
