Nick Cassidy has finished third at a very wet fourth round of the Super Formula Series at Fuji Speedway in Japan.
Raced in very wet conditions, the winner Alex Palou (pictured), led from pole position. Sho Tsuboi came home in second, fighting a charging Cassidy over the last few laps of the race.
Cassidy had qualified fifth on Saturday and moved quickly up to fourth in the race.
He inherited third when Yuhi Sekiguchi pitted for fuel. While Palou held the race lead, Cassidy began to threaten Tsuboi for second place, eventually crossing in third.
“It was a good race,” commented Cassidy. “We’ve closed the gap to the lead of the championship.”
Treacherous wet conditions made it difficult for all competitors and the 55-lap race was eventually finished under after 90 minutes, with 53 laps completed.
