Local boy made good Brendon Leitch and Australian Thomas Randle have shared fastest times in the two qualifying sessions for this weekend’s racing in the Castrol Toyota Racing Series at Teretonga Park, Invercargill.
Randle grabbed pole position for this afternoon’s 15 lap race with a 53.758 second lap from series leader Richard Verschoor of the Netherlands with Leitch third, followed by Pedro Piquet of Brazil.
In the second 15 minute qualifying session that followed immediately afterward, Leitch stopped the clocks at 53.304 seconds, followed by Randle and Jehan Daruvala from India, with less than a tenth of a second covering the top six cars.
That will give Leitch pole position for the main 20 lap race of the weekend on Sunday afternoon.
