Louis Sharp heads to the third round of the ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA after an impressive debut weekend a fortnight ago at Brands Hatch which included a maiden podium.
Having missed the opening round because his 15th (and eligible) birthday fell between the first and second rounds, Sharp finished 10th and sixth in the first two races at Brands Hatch, and finally stood on the podium in third alongside his Carling team mates. McLaren junior Ugo Ugochukwu triumphed in a wet-weather race, leading home a Carlin 1-2-3 finish with Oliver Gray second.
Current championship leader, Alex Dunne, arrives at Thruxton with a 15-point advantage over his nearest rival Oliver Gray (Carlin), with Ugo Ugochukwu, the McLaren Racing protégé, third overall, fresh from a maiden single seater win in front of a watching CEO, Zak Brown.
Billed as the ‘fastest circuit in the UK’, the high-speed Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire hosts the third of ten rounds with qualifying and three races over the weekend. Drivers spend almost the entire lap at full throttle, except for two heavy breaking zones at the Campbell-Cobb-Seagrave complex and the Club chicane at the end of the lap. The abrasive track surface also means tyre management is key; finding the balance between managing the car and moving through the order is a fine line.
Qualifying kicks off the action at 11:10 on Saturday, ahead of the first of three races at 16:05 later that afternoon, local time.
