This week on Talkmotorsport Mark Baker touched on Dan Ticktums weekend in the Asia F3 Winter Series at the end of his article ‘Remembering Dorothy’.
Motorsport Magazine has more on this topic quoting an interview with Ticktum where he described the experience so far as ‘a disaster’.
It’s a three round series which gives the winner 10 Super Licence points and this is what Ticktum is there to collect in his bid to have enough to be in contention for any Formula One opportunities this season.
His other option would have been to come to New Zealand and compete in our five round Toyota Racing Series, where arguably the competition would be tougher.
“Second is not where I should be finishing and the other two races I had on the weekend were: shit set of tyres and I got hit off by my team-mate in the first one,” Ticktum is quoted saying. “So that was it. Disastrous weekend for me and, yeah, that’s it really.”
We don’t know the reasons for Ticktum heading to the Asian F3 Series, it would have been great to have him here battling against his rival Marcus Armstrong, rookie Liam Lawson Lawson and Austrian Lucas Auer.
So the Toyota Racing Series heads to Teretonga in Invercargill this weekend for its second round while the Asian F3 Series will be in Shanghai.
We will watch both with interest!
