A cost effective marketing campaign

Well we all know that Ford have won this season’s Supercars Manufacturers’ Championship title, thanks to Scott McLaughlin’s podium antics!

McLaughlin held up a ‘poster’ during the podium celebrations following his victory in Sunday’s race at the Century Batteries Ipswich SuperSprint, with ‘Mustang wins title’ on it.

However, Stewards have deemed that this was in breach of Rule E6.8.2 (non-permitted item on the podium) and slapped a $10,000 fine on McLaughlin.

Add to this another $3,000 for breaching end of race procedures with his burnouts having crossed the finish line.

The fines were confirmed in the stewards’ report, which read:

“Following a post-race DRD investigation and admission of a breach of the End of Race Procedures for Race 20 (burnouts past the nominated points) by Car 17, Scott McLaughlin, the Stewards imposed the penalty of a fine of $3000 on Scott McLaughlin.

“Following a post-race DRD investigation and admission of a breach of Rule E6.8.2 (non-permitted item on the podium) by Car 17, Scott McLaughlin, the Stewards imposed the penalty of a fine of $10,000 on Scott McLaughlin.”

One would hope that Ford Performance will be paying McLaughlin’s fines. Quite a cost effective advertising campaign with huge coverage.
