De Pasquale on provisional pole, Kostecki misses Gold Coast Shootout

Anton De Pasquale has put Team 18 back on top on Friday at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500. Less than a fortnight after a heartbreaking Bathurst 1000 where he ran out of fuel while leading on the last lap, De Pasquale took provisional pole for Saturday’s 250-kilometre race on the streets of Surfers Paradise.

“Friday wrapped up here on a rainy Gold Coast, although we managed to get a couple of dry sessions in, including qualifying,” commented De Pasquale. “Having qualifying on a Friday was really exciting, and provisional pole is awesome. It’s brought a bit of joy after the couple of weeks we’ve had.

“The car was really good in the dry. Our first lap tomorrow will be in the Top Ten Shootout, we’ll be last out and it’s probably going to be wet, so we’ll see how we go.”

De Pasquale topped Friday afternoon’s qualifying session with a 1:09.0770 aboard the No. 18 Cub Cadet Racing Chevrolet Camaro

The 31-year old will be the last car out for tomorrow’s Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout, with a chance to take his second pole of 2026.

Gold Coaster Broc Feeney was second fastest in qualifying, with Kiwis Matt Payneand Andre Heimgarter third and fourth.

The top four were separated by 0.08 of a second.

Supercars Finalists Brodie Kostecki and Jack Le Brocq were surprise omissions from the Shootout, Kostecki earning a kerb strike on his last two flying laps, nullifying his fast laps.

Le Brocq struggled for pace in qualifying and will start 17th for tomorrow’s race.

The Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout kicks off Supercars action on Saturday at 12:35 p.m. AEST, with Saturday’s 85-lap, 250-kilometre race beginning at 3:15 p.m.
