Dunlop Series round win for Ryan Wood at Sandown

Kiwi Ryan Wood has won the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 round of the 2023 Dunlop Series.  On Saturday, Wood celebrated his 2024 Repco Supercars Championship promotion with Walkinshaw Andretti United with a crushing victory in the first of two races.

Wood recovered from a robust move by a fast-starting Zak Best to run away to victory by 5.8s, with series leader Best hanging onto second.  Best was forced to deny a racy Zach Bates, who was attempting to complete a WAU one-two.

Cooper Murray emerged the victor in an incident-packed Dunlop Series finale at Sandown, with Zak Best and Aaron Love both taken out in separate incidents.

Eggleston Motorsport driver Murray, who won the first race of the season, held on in a one-lap dash and was trailed home by pole-sitter Brad Vaughan, with Ryan Wood passing Kai Allen for third.

Walkinshaw Andretti United driver Wood, who won Saturday’s race, took out the round ahead of Murray and Allen.

The Dunlop Series will resume at the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 5-8.
