The 2013 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 was a classic for New Zealand competitors with 11 drivers competing in the V8 Supercars race at the Mount Panarama circuit. Three of them, Shane Van Gisbergen, Fabian Coulthard and Scott McLaughlin, were full-time Supercar drivers.

McLaughlin and Jack Perkins were driving for Garry Rogers Motorsport, also in a Holden Commodroe.
The other eight Kiwis were in co-driving roles, most notably four-times Bathurst winner Greg Murphy. Murphy was teamed up with former champion James Courtney in the Holden Racing Team.
Aucklander Daniel Gaunt also landed a drive in a factory team, one of the Nissan Altimas run by the Kelly family outfit and driven by Michael Caruso.
NZV8 champion John McIntyre joined the factory-backed Ford Performance Racing squad to partner Alex Davison.

It was the eleventh Kiwi, Steven Richards, that stood on the top of the podium with Mark Winterbottom, having driven the Ford Performance Ford Falcon to win the Great Race.
