The grid is set for the 2018 Bathurst 1000, with Shell V-Power Racing Team drivers Scott McLaughlin and Alex Premat to start fifth, while Fabian Coulthard and Tony D’Alberto will start 15th.
Scott McLaughlin rolled out as the eighth car for the Top 10 Shootout after provisionally qualifying third yesterday. The team made changes to the car overnight, and whilst McLaughlin is happy with the result, he couldn’t quite extract the maximum from the car over the single lap. He and Alex Premat will start tomorrow’s 1000km race from fifth on the grid. Fabian Coulthard and Tony D’Alberto will start 15th.
“At the end of the day, we can give ourselves a pass mark,” commented McLaughlin. “I think by the time I figured out the car was better than this morning, it was too late. The last sector we probably weren’t amazing, but I’m confident in the changes we’ve made, and we are going in the right direction with the car for the race.”
The next on-track session is the warm-up tomorrow morning at 8:05am local time. Race start is at 11:10am local time.
