McLaughlin takes positives from Townsville

Scott McLaughlin was back in the top of the V8 Supercars field at Townsville, claiming pole position and a fourth place finish.

”It was awesome to score the pole, the best feeling I have had in a long time. I am proud of the team to have given me a great car this weekend, proving that we can bounce back,” said McLaughlin.

The Kiwi qualified fourth and finished fourth in the first race, just below seven seconds from race winner Mark Winterbottom. The second race saw McLaughlin claiming the lead of the race from pole position but unfortunately retiring from the race due to a broken power steering belt.

”We had a really good start and we were in a reasonably good position until the retirement. It was a tough gig for us with zero points that could have been a solid podium finish. But we have shown promise all weekend, so I am leaving this weekend smiling and we will never give up,” said McLaughlin.

V8 Supercars resumes in three weeks with the Ipswich SuperSprint at Queensland Raceway on July 31st to August 2nd.
