Red Bull Ampol Racing reveals Holden tribute livery for Adelaide 500

Red Bull Ampol Racing have revealed their Holden tribute livery to mark the iconic Australian brand’s final Supercars Championship event at this weekend’s Adelaide 500.

The reveal took place in front of a large contingent of Holden owners and Trade customers at Peter Page General Motors Trade Parts in Adelaide.

Red Bull Ampol Racing drivers Shane van Gisbergen and Broc Feeney were on hand to reveal the striking livery, which features Holden logos and badges from its illustrious history on an all-white design, designed by renowned motorsport livery designer and ex Holden designer, Peter Hughes.

“I think the Holden tribute livery looks awesome – everyone that has been involved in the design has done a fantastic job.

“I’ve also decided to run #1 on my car for the final round of the season. We’re in a lucky position with the championship wrapped up that we can do something cool like this. It’s a thank you to the entire team because I know they’ve always loved running the #1 and have truly earnt it this year. It also suits with the last race for Holden running the #1 on the side of the car.”

Van Gisbergen, the 2022 Supercars Champion-elect, also announced that he’ll run #1 on his Holden Commodore supercar for the final event as a fitting nod to the team’s success throughout the 2022 season, and a tribute to Holden’s return to the streets of Adelaide for the final time.

Triple Eight Race Engineering first raced for Holden at the beginning of the 2010 Supercars season to immediate effect, with Jamie Whincup claiming a clean-sweep of race wins at the opening events in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. The team claimed a sensational one-two finish at the Bathurst 1000 in the same year, kick starting a long and successful partnership between the two organisations.

Holden became co-naming rights partner of the Red Bull Holden Racing Team from 2017 – 2020, before the brand announced its retirement at the beginning of the 2020 season.

Since the commencement of Triple Eight’s partnership with Holden, the team has claimed a staggering 189 Championship race wins, 137 pole positions, 420 podiums, six Bathurst 1000 wins, eight Drivers’ Championships, 10 Teams’ Championships and 10 Manufacturers Championships.

Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Holden tribute livery will make its debut when cars hit the street of Adelaide on Thursday, December 1. Adelaide 500 honours will be contested over two 250-kilometer races on both Saturday and Sunday.
